Burgundy aboard the barge
"Au fil de l'eau"
You must know Burgundy because of its wines, famous castles, historic and architectural heritage, but have you ever heard of boating holiday in Burgundy ? Indeed, Burgundy is rich in waterways, which cut across the region and are wonderful places of exchanges, originally for trading and for a few years popular with tourists.
Au fil de l'eau , is an old trade barge dating from 1956, entirely furnished and renovated by its owners Jacques and Sophie. The hotel boat plies up and down the waterways of Burgundy on a cruise of 6 nights / 7days to discover le Canal du Centre( the Central Canal ).
This superb channel, which used to be called le canal du Charolais ( the Channel of the Charolese ), was built in 10 years to carry goods on barges. Nowadays, such boats still transport wood and cereals, but yachtmen especially appreciate it.
Jacques and Sophie , your hosts, invite you to share their daily life on board the hotel barge on the canal from Montceau les Mines to Fragnes( at the gates of Chalon sur Saône) for a few days.
Each day, at different points along the way you will have a chance to explore Burgundian history, to go sightseeing, to visit museums, and to taste wines in the heart of vineyards.
